Or Lachayal House is a place in the heart of Jerusalem that will be the first Or Lachayal hotel for IDF commanders and soldiers and will be a center of light in a large variety of areas. The one thing they will all have in common is that they will strengthen the spirit of the soldiers and the IDF in the heart of Jerusalem, Israel’s eternal capital.
- Rest and relaxation for the body and the soul – Or Lachayal House will continue the tradition of hospitality begun by Abraham and Sarah, and will provide lodging for up to 50 soldiers at any given time. There will be special emphasis on creating a warm, homey atmosphere for lone soldiers and financially challenged soldiers throughout the entire duration of their service, so they can feel at home when they’re away from home… The center will be a place for all soldiers to come and relax on their vacation days and on weekends, and to connect with the holy city of Jerusalem.
- Guidance and enrichment center – weekday lectures and discussions on Jewish heritage and tradition, prepared especially for and in coordination with the Education Corps and Shabbat programs for hundreds of thousands of soldiers and commanders. These programs are designed to enrich and strengthen the soldier’s Jewish identity and will include walking tours of the Old City and visits to the Western Wall and other parts of Jerusalem.
- Activity center - Or Lachayal House will be the headquarters for teams of Or Lachayal representatives who will hold daily activities on IDF bases in the Jerusalem region.
